PRC hosting Maroon Tide

Arch-rivals Picayune and Pearl River Central are facing off a little earlier than usual on the baseball diamond this season.

The Blue Devils host the Maroon Tide tonight in the renewal of this annual neighborhood rivalry. The varsity game is set for 7 p.m., at the Pearl River Central Sports Complex.

The same two teams will meet in Picayune Tuesday night. The squads don’t normally face off this early, as the season is just a week old. But due to changes in realignment this year, the two schools that sit just about six miles apart are playing in different districts this season so the teams are meeting before their respective region play begins.

The Blue Devils added two more runs in the third frame when Scheuerman slapped a two run single driving in Christian Smith and Christian Travis.

In the fifth inning, Dylan Spiers singled in Wesley Mitchell to put PRC up 4-0.

After Bay scored its only run in the sixth, the Blue Devils responded with a four run rally in the bottom of the frame to put the game out of reach.
