Picayune handed arch-rival Pearl River Central its first loss of the young baseball season Friday night.

But the Blue Devils didn’t have to wait long for a chance at revenge.

The Maroon Tide pulled out a 5-3 win at the PRC Sports Complex. Both teams are now 3-1 on the year.

Mark Wood got the win for Picayune, in relief of starter Peyton Lee, and Cody Hamrick got the save while Dylan Spiers took the loss.

Lee paced Picayune at the plate with a pair of hits. The teams were slated to meet again Monday night in Picayune, in a game that was originally scheduled for Tuesday but moved up a day due to impending inclement weather approaching.

The Blue Devils opened the scoring in the first when Christian Travis drove in Christian Smith with an infield single.  PRC added another in the second when Chance Putnam led off the inning with a double and came home on an RBI-single by Christian Smith.

Picayune answered with two of their own in the third when, after two walks to load the bases, Hamrick singled in two runs with two outs.  Picayune took the lead in the fifth when Gary Van Buren scored on a Hayden Falls double down the left field line.

But PRC would tie the game up in the fifth when Travis once again produces an RBI-single to again score Smith.

Picayune would take the lead again in the sixth when a sacrifice bunt was thrown into right field by the PRC catcher to score Kyle Dillard from first base.  Picayune added a run in the 7th after Spiers hit Falls who would later score on a Brady Warren sacrifice fly.

The Blue Devils bounced back from their first loss of the season on Saturday, beating Class 6A power Harrison Central 4-3 in 10 innings on the campus of Pearl River Community College.

Cody Miller got the win in relief of Blake Caruso. PRC was down 3-0 in the seventh, before rallying as Jeshua Lee and Cole Lott produced back-to-back singles before Zach Evans notched a run-scoring single.

After Christian Smith drew a walk, Jake Scheuerman cracked a two-run single to tie the game up.

Jeshua Lee won the game in the 10th with an RBI-single following singles to open the frame by Christian Travis and Dylan Spiers.
