Johnnie Hugh Young Sr.

Johnnie Hugh Young, Sr., 80, of Poplarville, Miss., passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Biloxi, Miss.

He was born on June 21, 1933 to Dewey and Velma Amacker Young. Johnnie lived in Louisiana and Mississippi during his life.  He served in the U. S. Air Force, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1989. During his career he served as Postmaster in St. Bernard and St. Francisville, La. Johnnie was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be sadly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Theresa LaFontaine Young;  second wife, Alverda Croft Young; and brother, Bill Young.

He is survived by: their children Johnnie Young, Jr. wife, Hisako of Harahan, La.; Kenneth Young wife, Teresa of Carriere, Miss.; Darrell Young wife, Gretchen of Chalmette, La.; Glenn Young wife, Debbie of Carriere; Gary Young  wife, Joyce of Metairie, La.; and Cheryl Young Janusa husband, Michael of Nacogdoches, Texas; his brother, Lawrence Young of Gulfport; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.  at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, Miss., with a Prayer Service to follow at 1 p.m. Entombment will be in Bayou Caddy Cemetery in Ansley, Miss.
