Burks, Vondell S. OBIT CLR

On Saturday, March 29, 2014, Vondell S. Burks passed into everlasting life at the age of 92. Vondell, a lifelong resident of the Henleyfield community, was preceded in death by her husband George T. Burks and her daughter Paula Kay Burks Zweifel. She was a faithful member of Pinetucky Baptist Church and loved serving the Lord. She is survived by her two sons Ronald T. Burks and Gregory Burks (wife Sarah). She is also survived by her only brother QC Smith (wife Betty). She was known as “Mawmaw”  by her seven grandchildren: Stephanie Zweifel, Grant Zweifel (wife Mindy), Nathan Burks (wife Dawn), Ashton Burks (wife Rachel), Zack Burks (wife Jennifer), Landon Burks, and Wesley Burks and her nine great-grandchildren: Austin Burks, Kate Macaluso, Allie Burks, Noah Burks, Rylee Burks, Dylan Coker, Brodie Burks, Zane Coker, and Gentry Burks. She was also survived by a large number of loving nieces and nephews. Visitation services will be Monday, March 31, 2014, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home.  Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at her final resting place in Pine Grove Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Bro. Daniel Barber and Bro. Jerry Kennedy under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home. The family is inviting everyone to return to Pinetucky Baptist Church after the Graveside Service for fellowship and dinner. The family requests donations be sent to Pinetucky Baptist Church in lieu of flowers. Vondell requested that Bibles be purchased and sent around the world that others may come to know Jesus Christ.
