Dedeaux picked Gulf Coast despite having a few offers from four year schools including Central Arkansas and Delta State.

At Pearl River Central, kicker Jovan Detto is expected to sign with Pearl River Community College. At least two other Blue Devil players were offered juco scholarships but turned them down, according to PRC head coach Eric Collins.

A pair of Poplarville players are expected to sign today. Versatile standout Rojae Raine is expected to ink with Missssippi Gulf Coast, while placekicker Cody Mikel is expected to sign with Pearl River Community College.

Elsewhere in South Mississippi, Harrison Central is expected to make the biggest splash with a trio of players signing Division I deals. Tito Windham, Lashard Durr and LaDarius Kidd are expected to enjoy today with Windham, a defensive back, signing with Oklahoma. Durr, a defensive back, is signing with Mississippi State. And Kidd, a lineman, is signing with Texas Tech. Kidd had originally committed to UAB.

Pascagoula wide receiver Matthew Eaton has narrowed his list, and is considering Temple, Appalachian State and Arkansas State. Temple and Appalachian State are currently the leaders.

Pascagoula defensive end Caleb Caston plans to sign with Arkansas State and Pascagoula offensive lineman Keith Crawford is set to sign with Delta State. Panther quarterback Drew Dunn is expected to sign with National Champion East Mississippi Community College.

Southern Mississippi reportedly landed five verbal commitments for the Class of 2014 on Sunday, a group that includes Faith Academy offensive lineman Hayden McMahan and Pearl River Community College defensive back Ty Northern.

McMahan and Northern are joined by Louisiana athlete Jay’Shawn Washington and the Georgia duo of defensive back Walden Davis and linebacker Aaron Harris. The quartet gives the Golden Eagles 24 verbal commitments for 2014, with signing day coming up Wednesday.

Northern, originally from Tunica, also had an offer from Memphis. He totaled 53 tackles, an interception and five pass breakups at Pearl River in 2013.

“I wanted to be a part of a program that I know is going to turn things around,” Northern told GoldenEaglePride.com. “They want me to play right away at safety, and like I said that is the heart of the defense.

“I want to come in and compete and be a part of something special.”

Davis (6-0, 190) and Harris (6-1, 225) are teammates at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Ga. Washington (6-3, 230) played primarily wide receiver at John Ehret High School in Marerro, La.

Gautier football players Lajuan Johnson & Gerald Magee will sign with Pearl River CC Wednesday, according to Gators coach Chris Peterson.

Northern is just one of a handful of current PRCC players expected to sign with four year schools today. The big prize is defensive lineman Dalvin Stuckey, who has apparently narrowed his list to Louisville and Arizona State.

A pair of former Picayune products, Ken Breland and Dalvin Acker, have already signed with four years schools. Breland, who played at EMCC the past two seasons, signed with Nicholls State while Acker, who played at Southwest Mississippi Community College the past two years, has signed with Langston University.
