Graveside Services for James Raymond Skipworth, 82, of Carriere, Miss., who passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014, in Carriere, will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Carriere Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Carriere Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Bro. William Gary Smith will officiate at the service.

A native of Van Alstyne, Texas, He was a retired System’s Analyst for Lockheed Martin. Jim owned the Country Store in Carriere for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time at the store and visiting with the regulars who came by each day to visit. He always had a garden and everyone reaped the benefits from his passion for growing vegetables. He was a staunch supporter of the Pearl River Central Blue Devils. All of the athletes knew they were going to receive a free drink when they won the game. The store supported the athletics’ department and the school through advertising and donations every year. Jim was dearly loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, John Leo Skipworth and Ella Shaw Skipworth; his loving wife of 52 wonderful years, Doris Gentry Skipworth; his six brothers and sisters: George, John, Jack, Vida, Frances, and Mary.

Survivors include: his three daughters, Tonja Watson and husband Walter, Terri Harrison, and Jill Hilsher; his five grandchildren: Trey Taylor and wife Ashley, Genni Boegner, Courtney Cipriano, Christen Douglas, and James Douglas; five great-grandchildren: Slade Taylor, Holt Taylor, Aiden Boegner, Talon Cipriano, and Ava Boegner; his sister, Edna Dutton; and many nieces and nephews.
