Herschel J. Pearson, 73, of Carriere, Miss., passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Gulfport, Miss..

Visitation was held Monday, February, 24, 2014 from 11 a.m. until Noon at Union Baptist Church. Funeral services followed at 12 Noon with Bro. Buddy Sheriff and Bro. Brian Tatum officiating. Burial was at Pearson Cemetery under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.

Herschel was a lifelong resident of Hancock County, a carpenter, and a member of Union Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, and two brothers, R.W Pearson and Forrest Pearson.

He is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Letha Pearson of Carriere; two sons, Rodney W. Pearson of Carriere and Ricky J. (Samantha)  Pearson of Slidell, La.; two daughters, Dana (Craig) Perry of Lawton, Okla. and Tosha Bannister, of Carriere; one brother, Edward Earl Pearson; four sisters: Susie Weaver, Decater,  Ann Jenkins of Biloxi, Vernice Delany of Ozona, and Georgia Lavigne of Carriere;  fifteen grandchildren: son, Jameson (Nikki) Pearson of Virginia, and 8 great-grandchildren.
