Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 12 noon in St. Matthew Baptist Church for Alberta Stallings, 79, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014, in New Orleans, La.

The Rev. Dr. Michael Kelly, pastor, will officiate at the service. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Home.

Alberta “Bert” Stallings was introduced into the world on May 8, 1934 in Picayune to Thad and Clara Smith.

Alberta was baptized at an early age at St. Matthew Baptist Church. Upon her passage from this earth to be with our Father in Heaven, she remained faithful, God-fearing and inspired member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church of Picayune, under the watchful leadership of the Rev. Dr. Michael Kelly.

Alberta attended George Washington Carver School of Picayune where she was recognized often for good citizenship. The she met and married Lloyd Stallings and to this union three beloved sons were born. Throughout the union, she was a homemaker.

Bert was know for her strong honest work ethic Most of all, everyone will cherish her humble spirit. She will be remembered for the genuine love and concern she had for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Lloyd Stallings, Sr.; son, Donald Ray Stallings; her parents, Thad and Clara Smith; sisters, Jessie Lee Stallings, Willa Lee Smith, Loberta Quinn and Martha Lee Johns; grandsons: Clinton Jemail Guyton, Lloyd Stallings III, and great-grandson, Cais Smith.

She leaves to cherish her humble memories, two caring sons, Lloyd “Tippy” Stallings Jr. (Brenda), and Clinton Ray “Clint” Stallings; a loving granddaughter, Angela Stallings, all of Picayune; two sisters, Evie Simmons (Edward) of New Orleans, La., and Daisy Mae Sanchez of Calumet City, Ill.; one brother, Roosevelt Smith of New Orleans; sister-in-law, Lesser Stallings of Picayune; brother-in-law, Marshall Stallings Sr (Viola) of Magnolia, Miss.; three great-grandsons: Clinton, Elijah and Torrey; bosom friend, Alberta Bolden; affectionate niece, Earnestine Carter; and loving neighbors, Norton and Hilda Magee and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
