Kaplan — Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.. Monday, January 6, 2014,  at Vincent Funeral Home – Kaplan honoring the life of Thomas Wayne Trahan, 56, who passed away Friday, January 3, 2014.  The Rev. Billy Ray Bond will be officiating the services.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Trahan.

He is survived by: his son, Ty Trahan and his wife, Wendi of Canton, Miss.; two daughters, Misty Trahan of Picayune, Miss. and Myka T. Russell and her husband, Lee of Picayune; his mother, Helen Trahan of Kaplan; three sisters, Linda T. Mayers of Gonzales, La., Delores T. Huffman of Longview, Texas and Debbie T. Guidry of Kaplan; and three grandchildren, Kirkland Davis Trahan, Kortney Dawn Trahan and Coy Lang Trahan.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home – Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 9 a.m. until services.

Barbara Mizell began working for the Picayune Item in 1993. She started during the "cut and paste" days of the newspaper, and was the first to create a newspaper page using the computer for the Item. She has served as Composing Supervisor and honorary Religion Editor.
