Funeral services for Maggie Pearl Jefferson, 65, of Picayune, will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. Pastor Dr. Michael Kelley will officiate at the service.

Maggie Pearl Buckley was born August 8, 1948 in Picayune, Miss to the late Charlie Buckley, Sr. and Vurdee Hathorn. She was one of five children.

She attended George Washington Carver High School. She was a member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as a Nurse’s Assistant, and a Sales Clerk at Bob’s Jewelry. Picayune Public School System later employed her as a custodian at Picayune Junior High for many years.

She is united in holy matrimony to O.Z. Jefferson, who preceded her in death.

She ended her earthly existence to begin her heavenly journey on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in Slidell, La. Her parents, Charlie Buckley & Vurdee Hathorn, and her husband, O.Z. Jefferson, precede her in death

She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Carol (Ronald) Jackson of Picayune; two grandchildren, Alexandria (Titus) Barrett, and Andrea Jackson of Picayune; two great-grandchildren, Kamaria & Kendall; two sisters, Alberta Haralson-Parker, Charlene (Marvin) Arnold; one brother, Charlie (S.L.) Buckley, all of Picayune; Brother-in-law, Neale Henderson of San Diego, Ca.; three step-sisters, Orangie Smith, Ethel Lee Robinson of Carriere, and Catherine Massey of Staten Island, N.Y.; three step-brothers, John (Judy) Jones of Chicago, Ill., Roger (Shirley) Jones of New Orleans, Greg Jones of Brooklyn; one aunt, Etha Mae Harper; one uncle, Jack Hathorne, both of Bassfield, Miss.; Maggie’s memories will also be missed by her adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. One special great nephew, Marvun Arnold.
