Daphne Dawn Poche?, 39, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at her residence in Labadieville. A native of St. Amant and a resident of Labadieville for the past 8 years. A home maker and loving wife. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 9-10:45 a.m. at St. Philomena Community Center in Labadieville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at the Center with burial in the church cemetery.

She was preceded in death mother-in-law Betty Jean Poche?.

She is survived by: her husband of eight years, Daniel J. Poche?; Parents; Wanda Sue Prejean and Ronald James Clouatre, father-in-law, Denis J. Poche?.  One brother, Chad Becnel (wife Lesa), two sisters-in-law; Deborah Poche? (partner, Gayla Villenurve) and Brenda Toups (husband Jules),  three nieces, Brittney and Chelsea Becnel, Isabella Toups. Two nephews; Andrew Toups and Brody Villenurve and numerous family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to: St. Jude Research Foundation, American Cancer Society and Relay For Life. Donations at The Blood Center will be appreciated very much by the family.  Arrangements are under the direction of Landry’s Funeral Home.

Barbara Mizell began working for the Picayune Item in 1993. She started during the "cut and paste" days of the newspaper, and was the first to create a newspaper page using the computer for the Item. She has served as Composing Supervisor and honorary Religion Editor. Of all the contributions she has made over her 20 years at the Item, she is most proud of the World War II book "The Greatest Generation." Barbara was born and raised in the White Sand Community on Lee Hill, she has also written many short stories about growing up on the hill.
