Reggie L. Farmer Sr., 69, of Picayune, Miss., passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 from 6- 9 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kyle Thigpen officiating. Burial will be at McNeill Cemetery.

Mr. Farmer was a lifetime resident of Pearl River County. He retired in 2005 from the State of Louisiana computer information system and services management. He was a 32 degree Mason and belonged to the Carriere Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by: his parents Huiel Farmer and Ruby Gill Farmer; daughter, Regina Farmer; and brother, Hooper Farmer.

He is survived by: his wife Katie Farmer of Picayune; sons, Reggie Farmer, Jr. of Picayune and Kenneth Ladell Farmer of Picayune; daughters, Tammy Bennett of Picayune and Greta Pharr of Picayune; brother, Clelly Farmer of Poplarville; sisters, Jackie Davis of Poplarville and Barbara Taylor of Picayune; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

About Barbara Mizell

Barbara Mizell began working for the Picayune Item in 1993. She started during the "cut and paste" days of the newspaper, and was the first to create a newspaper page using the computer for the Item. She has served as Composing Supervisor and honorary Religion Editor. Of all the contributions she has made over her 20 years at the Item, she is most proud of the World War II book "The Greatest Generation." Barbara was born and raised in the White Sand Community on Lee Hill, she has also written many short stories about growing up on the hill.
