MargieMargie Strahan Nell Lumpkin Strahan, 89, of Poplarville, Mississippi died peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in Blueberry Hill Personal Care Home, Poplarville.
Mrs. Strahan was a retired supervisor with Movie Star, Inc.; and a member of Byrd’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she enjoyed teaching Children’s Sunday School and being a founder of the Quilter’s Guild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Barney and Susie Spiers Lumpkin; her husband of 60 years, John Hubert “Buster” Strahan, Jr.; two sons, Jim Strahan and Jack Strahan; two grandchildren, Priscilla Stewart and Bryan Stewart; two sisters, Hilda Penton and Louise Penton; four brothers, Ulmer Lumpkin, Elmer Lumpkin, Billy Lumpkin, and John Lumpkin.
Survivors include two daughters, Johnnie Sue (Horace) Stewart and Barbara (Emile) Anthaume; one sister, Patricia (James) Owen; four grandchildren, Benji Strahan, Allison Lee, Daniel Anthaume, and Angela Anthaume; and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 am, Friday, December 6, 2013 at White Funeral Home, Poplarville with interment following in Poplarville City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

About Barbara Mizell

Barbara Mizell began working for the Picayune Item in 1993. She started during the "cut and paste" days of the newspaper, and was the first to create a newspaper page using the computer for the Item. She has served as Composing Supervisor and honorary Religion Editor. Of all the contributions she has made over her 20 years at the Item, she is most proud of the World War II book "The Greatest Generation." Barbara was born and raised in the White Sand Community on Lee Hill, she has also written many short stories about growing up on the hill.
