M.L. Hall, 90, entered into eternal peace on Friday, December 6, 2013, in the love and comfort of his family home.  He was born on July 7, 1923 to the late Lee and Martha Hall in Bassfielld, Miss. He was the second of seven children born to that union. At an early age, he joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Bassfield under the leadership of the late Reverend E.L. Fox. He is the father of four (4) boys and six (6) girls. He later joined St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership the Reverend Joey Mark. He was a faithuful member even throughout his illness and served the latter ten years uder ther Reverend Dr. Michael Kelly. He was also an active Mason.
He enlisted in the United tate Army n 1943 where he served in Normandy, NOrther France, Rhineland and Central Europe. During World War II, he received the ATO Medical, Fame to Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart. After discharge from the Army, he moved to Picayune, Miss., where he worked as a landscaper for Crosby Chemical Company. He laster worked for T.L. James Construction until being injured on the job. He also worked for Brown Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Geraldine Hall; one son, John L. Hall; one daughter, Patty Renee Hall; three brothers: E.L. Hall, Ed Lee Hall, and Leon Hall; two sisters, Geneva Hall and Leola Stubbs.
He leaves to cherish his memories; four loving sons: Ernest (Charlotte) Hall of Seattle, Wash.; Lionel Hall, Donald Hall, and Derrick (Lakenya) Hall, all of Picayune, Miss., and five loving daughters: Hazel (Edward) Jeffrfies, Marie (Nathaniel) Scott, Linda Jones, Diane Parker, al of Picayune, and Erma (Henry) Brown of Metroit, Mich.; one sister, Ora Lee Hawthorne of Pontiac, Mich.; 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; give great-great grandchidren; “a special son”, Hansai Bolden, “a daughter” Ruby McDonald and a host of adoring nieces, newphews, cousins and special friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of St. Joseph Hospice. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spend with him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held honoring M.L. Hall on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, 2106 James Thomas Street in Picayune.
The Rev, Dr. Michael Kelly will officiate. The eulogy win be given by the Rev. Joey Mark.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery with Millitary Honors.
