Alma Christine Stubbs-Mickel

Christine ended her earthly existence to join the angels in her heavenly home on Friday evening December 6, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ogie and Jessie Mae Stubbs; brothers: Robert Leon, and Liddell Stubbs; sister, Corine Hives; sons, Charles Quinn and the Rev. Donald Wayne Mickel.
She was a member of the Greater Pleasant Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Donald Parker. She participated in various auxiliary while her health permitted.
Christine became a loving memory to her children Audrey Williams, Sherman Vince, Harold Mickel, Cathy Bell, and Antonio Mickel, all of Picayune, Miss.; brothers, Ogie Jr., Charles, Thomas and Edward Stubbs; sisters, Evelyn Stubbs and Alice Wilkes, all of Picayune, Joyce Burton of Gulfport, Miss. 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Great Pleasant Valley  Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery.

About Barbara Mizell

Barbara Mizell began working for the Picayune Item in 1993. She started during the "cut and paste" days of the newspaper, and was the first to create a newspaper page using the computer for the Item. She has served as Composing Supervisor and honorary Religion Editor. Of all the contributions she has made over her 20 years at the Item, she is most proud of the World War II book "The Greatest Generation." Barbara was born and raised in the White Sand Community on Lee Hill, she has also written many short stories about growing up on the hill.
