It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Teague home in North Hill Subdivision. The home of Richard and Janet Teague, located at 48 Long Lake will be featured in the Civic Woman’s Club Christmas Pilgrimage to be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 2 until 7 p.m. Only two years ago, Richard and Janet Teague moved into their home the week before Christmas. That first Christmas was all about unpacking boxes, but this year decorations abound throughout the residence. Wreaths, swags and illuminated garlands with berries, pine cones and red ribbons adorn the front entry. Upon entering the home, a 10 foot tree greets the guests. The tree, decorated with old lace, crocheted ornaments, special ornaments made by their children and old fashioned bubble lights adds vintage charm to the room. Magnolias and garland with words such as peace, joy and hope cover the mantle from which the vintage stockings hang on antique holders. Christmas villages are displayed around the room and wreaths hang from each window. The dining room table is prepared for Christmas dinner with a red table cloth overlaid with a handmade crocheted top. Christmas dishes on gold chargers and napkins in holly rings surround a white Christmas creche centerpiece. The chandelier is draped with a garland of white stars. The kitchen table is set with whimsical snowman dishes placed on red and green placemats. Wreaths hang from each window in the room. Janet Teague’s unique collection of vintage and antique items is displayed above the kitchen cabinets. An old wall telephone, bread box, lanterns, tung nut wire basket, butter churn and cheese box are just a few things displayed among the greenery. Richard Teague’s passion for the outdoors is reflected in his office where duck decoys and prints are in abundance. A simple tree is placed in a minnow bucket and is draped with burlap ribbon, antique fishing lures and corks. An old fishing cap sits on top of the tree with fishing equipment surrounding the base. Each guest room is uniquely decorated with Christmas decorations that reflect the time period of the furniture. The couple bought their first bedroom set at an estate sale when they first married. The fifties style furniture is the backdrop for lots of silver and vibrant colors. Silver trees are decorated with lime green, fuchsia and royal blue ornaments. Other small trees in the same color scheme are placed around the room. Over the bed hangs a handmade wreath in these vibrant colors. The second guest room furniture is very special to Janet Teague because it belonged to her grandmother who gave it to her when she moved into her home. This 100-year-old bedroom set is perfect for a vintage theme. The bed is covered with a crocheted bedspread made by Janet’s great aunt. A wicker bed tray sits on the bed ready for tea to be served. A collection of antique crocheted doilies is displayed about the bed. The small tree is decorated with simple items such as crocheted doilies, angels, stars and other ornaments reflecting the period. The teal, brown and bronze color palette used in the master bedroom perfectly complement the French provincial furniture. The tree is decorated with ornaments from their daughter. This color scheme carries over into the master bath where a large bronze candle holder sits on the vanity and camellias float in the whirlpool bath. A pleasant finish to the tour is the spacious deck overlooking a small lake to the rear of the home. Guests are greeted by decorations which include large, white fiber optic trees, lanterns with red bows and holly abounding on the tables and rails. Santa’s sleigh and reindeer add the final touch to this outdoor area. The Teagues look forward to welcoming you to their home and wish you a very merry Christmas.
