Picayune remained unbeaten in Region 4-5A play with an easy 49-12 win over homestanding Long Beach.

Picayune jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead over the win-less Bearcats and never looked back.

The eighth-ranked Maroon Tide moves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in league play, while Long Beach drops to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the region.

Deandre Anderson got things rolling for Picayune with a 39-yard scoring run on the Maroon Tide’s first possession.

Boderick Scott hit Alex Aaron on a 54-yard scoring strike for Picayune, and Preston Dedeaux added a 69-yard scoring scamper to make it 21-0.

Scott also hit Dalton Hedgepeth on a 34-yard touchdown toss to make it 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Xavier Harralson extended the lead to 35-0  with a 4-yard touchdown plunge in the second stanza.

With the clock rolling throughout the second half, Picayune added scores on a 54-yard touchdown run by Kardarius Cross and an 8-yard scoring run by Earl Nastasi.

Jackson Samples was perfect on all nine extra point attempts for Picayune.

The Maroon Tide defense played well also, allowing just two meaningless scores.

Scott finished with a career high of 137-yards passing, and Dedeaux led the Tide with 122-yards rushing.

Picayune travels to Pascagoula in a battle for the region lead Friday night.
