Funeral Services for Jennie Sue Byrd, 83, of  Picayune, Miss., who passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013, will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune.

Visitation will be Friday, October 25, 2013 from 6-9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Pearl River, La., beside her husband, Gene Byrd, under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Born in Bogalusa, La., a longtime resident of Picayune, Miss., she was Chief Cataloger at Stennis Space Center (for Pan Am, Global, Mason Chamberlain Inc, and Johnson Controls). Sue was a member of First Baptist Church of Picayune. Sue was the choir director and soprano soloist for numerous Baptist churches across the south. She was a member of a family gospel quartet in her early years. Sue was a Past Worthy Matron of the OES Chapter # 237 in Pearl River. After retiring, she served on the Board of Directors for the Habitat for Humanity in Picayune. In addition, Sue served in the Sanctuary Choir and Senior Choir. She was an active member of the Irlene Smith Sunday School Class and the Women’s Missionary Union at First Baptist Church.  

She was preceded in death by: her parents, John Ewell Meador and Dortha Mae Rozel Meador; her husband, Arthur Eugene “Gene” Byrd; her grandson, Michael Earl Davis; and her brother, Jeff Meador.

Survivors include: her children, Ginger Byrd Moncada and husband David, John Howard Byrd, and Mardi Jean Kelly; six grandchildren: Stephen Lee, Eleanor, David Joseph, Amanda, Jessica, and Faith; four great-grandchildren: Rebecca Ann, Rachel, Aaron, and Joseph Dominic; one great great-grandchild, Christian; her sisters, Ewell  Mueller, Maude Ritchey, and Jane Ann Meador; and numerous nieces and nephews.
