A reckless driver was arrested and found to be in possession of 14 gallons of moonshine in Picayune.

Last Friday, officers were dispatched to the area of Mississippi Highway 43 South, near Frontage Road in reference to a reckless driver, said Deputy Chief Chad Dorn.

An anonymous complainant advised dispatch that a “blue Chevrolet pickup truck” was west-bound  swerving, Dorn said.

When officers arrived to the area, they observed a vehicle matching the description given.

Dorn said a traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with the driver, identified as John Edward Necaise, 43, of 29397 Deschamp Rd., Pass Christian.

Necaise was then asked to get out of the vehicle, said Dorn.

“Once Necaise was out of the vehicle, he advised he had moonshine in the bed of his truck,” Dorn said.

Officers searched the vehicle and recovered 10, one-gallon jugs of moonshine in the bed of the truck and four additional one-gallon jugs of moonshine in the cab of the truck, said Dorn.

A bottle of coconut flavoring and a bottle of banana flavoring were also recovered from the vehicle.

Dorn said Necaise stated he used the flavoring to flavor the liquor.

Necaise was taken into custody and transported to the Criminal Justice Center.

Officers contacted the Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) agents, who have taken over the case, said Dorn.

ABC seized Necaise’s vehicle and he was charged with possession of untaxed whiskey, Dorn said.
