Velleph “Ray” Travis

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Newton Chapel United Methodist Church for Mr. Velleph “Ray” Travis, 63, of Poplarville, Miss., who passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013, in Covington, La. The Rev. Willie Gore will officiate. Burial will be in the Dave Monday Cemetery under direction of Baylous Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Iola Travis; sisters: Cerola Darby, Margie Raine, Monica Travis, Edger “Pookie” Travis, Linda Travis, and Angie Travis.   

A native of Poplarville. he was a Disabled Veteran, a member of the Newton Chapel United Methodist Church, and a Mason.

Survivors include four daughters: Tamara Tyson, Lytania Toomer, both of Pass Christian, Miss., Marguita Travis, and Taujhnae Travis of Houston, Texas; his father, Harvey Travis of Poplarville; four sons: Harry Travis of Jackson, Miss., Gordan Travis of Gulfport, Miss., Sylvester Travis of Abita Spring, La., and Richie Travis of Poplarville; two sisters, June Daniels and Sandra Gore of Poplarville; six grandchildren, and special friend, Antoinette Lewis of Cincinnati, Ohio.

 Visitation will be Saturday, September 28, 2013 time 10-11a.m. in Newton Chapel United Methodist Church.

Baylous Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
