A vehicle parked on the side of a road led officers to make two felony possession arrests.

Earlier this month,  narcotics officers saw a car parked to the side on Ridge Road, said Maj. Donnie Saucier.

“The officers pulled up to the vehicle, exited and checked to see if the occupants needed assistance,” Saucier said.

While approaching the vehicle, the officers heard the driver yell, “It’s the cops,” Saucier said. The driver “put the car in gear, accelerating away from the officers, attempting to flee,” he said.

Narcotics officers gave chase, and the suspects were apprehended as they attempted to turn into the driveway of 481 Ridge Rd, said Saucier.

The driver, identified as Frank E. Brinson Sr., 59, of 42 Ridgeview Place, was arrested for failure to yield to blue lights, reckless driving, and no seat belt, Saucier said.

The passenger, identified as Salina M. Craft, 33, of #40 Checker Mitchell Rd, “was found to be in possession of Xanax pills without a prescription” and Saucier said she was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance.

Saucier said after both suspects were in custody, an inventory search was conducted on the vehicle.

The search resulted in the recovery of “four methadone pills and a small, clear plastic bag containing marijuana,” Saucier said.

Brinson was then charged with felony possession of a controlled substance — the methadone — and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, said Saucier.

Craft, whom investigators learned had six outstanding bench warrants in Pearl River County for traffic violations, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
