Board hears report on conference

Baudoin said the administrative team attended a leadership conference in Gulf Shores, Ala., last week. The group learned about more than leadership at the conference. They also learned about processes and procedures that should be followed at the school district.

She said the most important thing the group did at the conference was build relationships with their co-workers. Twenty-one administrators from the Pearl River County school district attended the conference.

— The School Safety Assessment and Planning Certification, a campus  security plan, that is now going to be sent to the Mississippi Department of Education.

— A collaborative agreement with Millcreek of Magee, which provides student placement and services for the district’s special education department. The board also approved the amendment for FY12 IDEA application, which is the funding the district receives for the special education department.

— To purchase Triumph Learning textbooks and workbooks for Mississippi Common Core Coach for the Upper Elementary for $6,412.34.

— The resignation of four teachers and recommendations for new hires.

— The recommendation for two employees from the lower elementary school and two upper elementary staff to work district-wide registration on July 24-26.

— The recommendation for four employees to work three to four days in July to review Individual Education Plan documents.

— The request from some students to be released from the school district for the 2013-14 school year.

— The request from out-of-district students to attend the school district for the 2013-14 school year.

— For Nilene Quave to travel out-of-state to attend a computer workshop in New Orleans, La. on August 21-22.
