On Feb.7, 2013 Pearl River County REALTORS® joined more than 120 Mississippi REALTORS® at the Mississippi State Capitol to take part in REALTOR® Day at the Capitol. REALTOR® Day at the Capitol is an annual event organized by Mississippi REALTORS® to allow REALTOR® members from across the state to be actively involved in 2013 legislative issues affecting property rights and homeownership. Members attend a legislative briefing where they are given information on specific bills being considered for legislative action, then visit with their respective legislators to discuss the fundamentals of the pending legislation.

During the legislative briefing, Mississippi REALTORS® were addressed by Governor Phil Bryant. Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann and House Speaker Philip Gunn. In addition, Representative George Flaggs, Jr., Democrat, District 55 Warren County, was awarded the 2012 MAR House Legislator of the Year Award and Senator Josh Harkins, Republican, District 22, Madison and Rankin Counties, was awarded the 2012 MAR Senate Legislator of the Year Award for their outstanding contribution to property rights issues during the 2012 session.
