Funeral Services for Joe Mack Russell Sr., 74, of Picayune, who passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012, will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012, at 10:00 am at Union Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Union Baptist Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home. Bro. Brian Tatum and Bro. Danny Boudreaux will officiate the service.

A native of Darlove, Miss., he was self employed throughout his life providing a variety of services for his customers. Joe was a member of Union Baptist Church and a past Master of Carriere Masonic Lodge #445, and a past Patron of Carriere Chapter #105 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a former member of the Joppa Temple of the Shriner’s in Picayune. Joe was a very loving husband and a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family very much and he always put them first. He worked hard supporting his family both spiritually and financially his whole life. He did not believe in taking a day off, he worked throughout his life to give his family a better life. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Edwin Devit Russell and Myrtis Lucille Boyd Russell; his son, Joe Mack Russell Jr.; his three brothers, James W. Russell, Don L. Russell, Edwin Harold Russell; his sister, Jessie Myrhl Horton; his daughter in law, Angela Porter Russell; and his son-in-law, William Lee Frizzell.

Survivors include: his wife of 45 years, Iris E. Martin Russell; his two daughters, Janet Russell Richard and her husband Jim, and Beverly Stewart Frizzell; his three sons, Michael R. Stewart and his wife Ilene, James Boyd Russell, and Edwin Milton Russell and his wife Tammy; his three brothers, Boyd R. Russell and his wife Mona, Robert E. Russell, and Larry L. Russell; his 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Donna Palmer Russell; and his loyal friend, Darryle Whitfield who was like another son.
