Two suspects are facing charges of selling a controlled substance after investigation by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department uncovered enough evidence for their arrests.

Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier said the first case resulted in an arrest on March 9, when investigators with the narcotics division checked into a complaint that 38-year-old Haskal Scott Bazar was selling marijuana out of his home at 194 Pinecrest Dr., in Poplarville.

On that day investigators went to Bazar’s home and asked for consent to search the home after confirming he lived there, Saucier said.

During the search investigators found more than an ounce of marijuana individually packaged for resale, Saucier said. Bazar was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, the chief investigator said.

A second case was the result of a month-long investigation that also began as a tip. Saucier said during that investigation undercover operatives and other information obtained during the  investigation led investigators to the home of 32-year-old Mark Brumley at 1214 Rock Ranch Rd., Carriere. There, undercover operatives were able to purchase Suboxone from Brumley. On March 12, investigators obtained and served an arrest warrant for Brumley on the charge of sale of a controlled substance.

Saucier said a second purchase was made from Brumley during the investigation and that charge will be presented to the grand jury.
