Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Rose of Sharon C.O.G.I.C. for Mother Katie Mae Certain, 89, who passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Highland Community Hospital.

Elder David Simmons will officiate at the service. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery.

A native of Columbia, Miss., she was a homemaker, but was also employed in Dr. Berry’s Medical Office until her health failed. For many years she cooked, cleaned, sewed, washed, and took care of people that God placed in her path. She was affectionately called Aunt Kate, and was mother to many. She was a member of Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ where she was active for many years as an usher and served as a mother of the church.

Mother Katie was born July 15, 1922 to the late Dave and Mary Jefferson in Columbia, Miss. Katie united in holy matrimony to the late Hollis Certain. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; Hollis Certain; seven brothers: Buford, James, Will, J.L., Luther, O.Z., and Hosie; for sisters, Rosie, Ruby, Ada Mae, and Bessie Lee; one son, Quincy Sartin; one granddaughter, Belinda Sartin; and one great-grandson, Quincy Sartin, III.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: one son, Christopher Certain of Slidell, La.; two children whom she reared as her own, Johnny (Joyce) Jefferson of Biloxi, Miss., and Genell (Lorenzo) Arnold of Addis, La.; three Godchildren, Priscilla Honeycutt, Zonthia Conner, Shavonne Honeycutt; a very devoted grandson, Andre Sartin of Miami, Fla.; a dear friend, Agnes “Granny” Lampton of Picayune; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends that will truly miss her.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
