Sherwood “Joe” Weems

Funeral Services for Sherwood “Joe” Weems, 73, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Thursday, January 26, 20112 in Picayune, will be held Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 10 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

A native of the Caesar Community, he was a carpenter and a member of Union Baptist Church. Joe was also a member of Mt. Carmel/Southeast Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to fish and hunt. In his earlier years, he and his brother, Derwood, played in many music groups, including performing at the famous Louisiana Hayride. He played the guitar and sang. Joe was also a member of the “Who Dat Nation”.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Henry Arnold Weems and Mary Allie Martin Causey; and his brother, Derwood Weems.

Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Mary Jim Robinson Weems; his children: Tracy A. Williams, and husband Carl, and Joe (Celeste H.) Weems; his grandchildren: Zachary Rester, Luke Rester, Cade Williams, Conner Williams, and Cooper Weems; and his sister, Wanda Mitchell.
