Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Union Baptist Church for Audel “Sonny” Stewart, 71, of Picayune who passed away Monday, August 15, 2011 in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home and also Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 9 a.m. until service time at Union Baptist Church.

Burial will be New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

The Rev. Harry Lee, the Rev. Danny Boudreaux and the Rev. Shane Giadrosich will officiate the service.

A native of Picayune, MS, he was a self-employed home builder. Sonny attended Union Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who was loved by all. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, James J. Stewart and Elva Henley Stewart; and his sister, Shelby Moeller.

Suvivors include: his wife of 48 years, Margaret Bounds Stewart; his children, Gayle Fail and husband Donald, and Roger Stewart and fiancee’ Sandra; his grandchildren, Jacob Fail, Jonathan Fail and Camilla Stewart; and his brothers, Sylvester (Vera) Stewart, Huey (Linda) Stewart and James “Jimmy” (Nell) Stewart.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS 39213 or the Gideons International, Picayune Camp, P.O. Box 1465, Picayune, MS 39466.
