The Moss Point School Board has voted to hire an interim superintendent until Kim Staley’s employment appeal is resolved.

Board members will not reveal their selection until Friday, when the interim superintendent is scheduled to come on board.

Board President Clifton Magee says the interim superintendent may stay in the post for up to six months until a decision is reached in Staley’s appeal and possibly beyond that until a permanent replacement is hired.

Staley requested his employment hearing after a January meeting where board members voted 3-2 to let his contract expire on June 30 after four years as superintendent.

The board has held two days of hearings on Staley’s appeal. The hearing resumes July 7.
