Shook announces candidacy

I, Chad Shook, write humbly asking for your support as a write-in candidate for District 10, Place 1 Chancery Judge when you go to the polls on Nov. 2. Judge James H.C. Thomas, Jr. provided yeoman’s service to the chancery courts of Perry, Forrest, Lamar, Marion, and Pearl River counties for 16 years, and his untimely death leaves a great void.

I have a real desire to serve you as your next Chancery Judge, and I believe my legal career has well-prepared me to take on the important responsibilities of this office.

If the voters are to select their next judge this year, then the write-in process is how it will be accomplished. I have practiced law in Hattiesburg since 2003, and my legal career has provided me experience in matters that come before the Chancery Court.

I have experience deciding difficult issues as a public arbitrator and assisting parties to resolve their disputes as a mediator.

I understand the sensitivity and emotional aspects of the matters that are decided by the Chancery Court that affect families. All matters are important to those involved, and it is necessary for the Chancery Judge to give those matters the time and attention they deserve.

If you entrust me with this office, I will carry out my duties with integrity, fairness, and compassion in a timely and respectful manner to all parties and counsel who appear before the Court.

Please help me fulfill my desire to serve the 10th Chancery District by writing-in Chad Shook for Chancery Judge, District 10, Place 1 under Judge Thomas’ name on Nov. 2.
