Both the Poplarville Hornets and Lady Hornets fared well at the Class 4A state track and field meet that took place recently in Pearl.

Jordan Travis paced the Hornets to a 9th place finish and Stacey Hagenson led the Lady Hornets to a seventh place finish at the annual event.

Jordan Travis captured the only state title for Poplarville, as he won the 3,200 meter run in a time of 10.32.98. He was denied a second state championship in exciting fashion in the 1,600 meter run, as Byhalia’s Godfrey Fayne won with a time of 4.46.80 and Travis finished second at 4.46.90.
