Gladys Mae “Nane” Gill

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 19, 2010, at 2 p.m. in Union Baptist Church for Gladys Mae “Nane” Gil, 99, of Picayune, who passed away Tuesday February 16, 2010 in Picayune.

Burial will be in Gipson Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

The Rev. Buddy Sheriff will officiate at the service.

A native of Pearl River County, she was a homemaker. She served faithfully and tirelessly as everybody’s Nane teaching Sunbeams, Sunday School, Training Union, Bible School and as Director of Preschool Department at Union Baptist Church for many years. In addition, she and her husband helped organize mission churches in Pearl River and Hancock Counties.

She was preceded in death by: her parents: Mallison Randolph Jones and Ella Mariah Jones; her husband of 47 years: J.D. Gill; and 12 siblings.

Survivors include: her daughter, Cindi Capooth of Picayune; her son-in-law: Kent Capooth of Picayune; two grandsons: James Nathan Walker and Jeffrey Drew Capooth; one granddaughter: Arlelle Faith Capooth; one great-granddaughter: Kolbie Layne Smith; Glenn Dunaway of Slidell, La.; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and generations of children at Union Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 6-9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.

Loved and missed by her family and friends, Nane will be celebrating her 100th birthday in Heaven.
