The steady rainfall during the past few days will help farmers who have crops in the field.

Floyd Trammell, general manager of Farmer’s Inc., a farm supplier in Greenville, says farmers are understandably optimistic about this year’s crop.

Farmers in Washington County, like growers across the nation, have converted thousands of acres from other crops to corn during the past three years, but this year the trend has slowed down. Many farmers, although numbers are not available yet, are going back to soybeans, a low investment crop.
