Claude L. Hendrix

Claude L. Hendrix, 90, of Picayune passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Highland Community Hospital.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 24, from 6-9 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 25, at 10 a.m. at Carriere Cemetery, with Bro. G.A McCoy and Bro. Billy Galloway officiating.

Mr. Hendrix, a lifetime resident of the area, was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, a member and a deacon for many years of First Baptist Church of Ozona.

He was preceded in death by: a son, Kenneth Levon Hendrix; a daughter, Cynthia Diane Hendrix; a granddaughter, Ashley Hendrix; the mother of his children, Hilda Strain Hendrix; brother, Charles Hendrix and parents, Charles and Effie Hendrix.

He is survived by: his wife, Betty Hendrix of Picayune; a son, Raymond David Hendrix of Carriere; two step-sons, Keith Martinez and Kevin Martinez, both of Picayune; four daughters, Edna Eastin of Picayune, Claudia Gower of Carriere, Karen Sue Billodeaux of Baton Rouge, La., and Charlotte Campbell of Carriere; a step-daughter, Kathy Bounds of Carriere; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Arrangements are under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.
