The state Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld the life without parole sentence given John Louis Woods for the 2005 beating death of Derek Williams.

According to court records, Woods, Williams and two other men went on a camping trip and later broke into a store for cigarettes, beer and snacks.

Prosecutors say Woods attacked Williams with a metal bar after Williams said he would like to have sex with Woods’ sister. Williams’ body was loaded into a truck and drove to Mobile County where it was left at a dumpsite.
