The Jones County Board of Supervisors has voted to contribute $15,000 to the reward fund for information leading to the arrest of the man that has been dubbed the “serial rapist.”

The action taken during Monday’s board meeting brings the total reward for information leading to the conviction of the rapist to $50,000. Area businesses and others donated $35,000. Supervisors expressed hope that the reward will soon lead to an arrest.

Last week, the Jones County Sheriff’s Department reported that DNA testing confirmed the suspect in two sexual assaults in 2005, two in 2007, and one last month to be the same person. Victims described the suspect as a small-framed Hispanic man.
