Graveside services were held Friday, April 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Henleyfield Cemetery for Gavin Stewart Burge, 94, of Henleyfield who passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Burial was in the Henleyfield Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

The Rev. Robert Bullock officiated at the service and was assisted by the Rev. Arthur Shaw.

A native of Pearl River County, Miss., he was a Logger and a member of First Baptist Church of Henleyfield.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Francis Marion Burge and Virginia D. Burge; his wife, Retta Perry Burge; and one brother, Carl Burge.

Survivors include: three daughters, Evelyn Pooley of Athens, Ala., Marilyn Mitchell of Henleyfield, and Joann Jones of Henleyfield; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and two brothers, Ray Burge of Henleyfield and Argel Burge of Henleyfield.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home.
