A ceremony in Biloxi will mark another milestone in the recovery from Hurricane Katrina when officials celebrate the completion of the U.S. 90 Reconstruction Project.

The series of reconstruction projects from St. Louis Bay to Biloxi Bay were in response to major damage by Katrina in 2005.

The road runs along the beach and was inundated by Katrina’s massive storm surge.

U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor will be the featured speaker at the ceremony at the Town Green in Biloxi at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Transportation Commissioner Wayne Brown says the projects covered 28 miles of Highway 90 at a total cost of $94 million.

Also at this ceremony, awards will be given for the design and completion of the Biloxi Bay Bridge, which also was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
