My name is Larry Breland, Democratic Party Candidate for the office of City Council, Precinct 4.

My wife, Brenda, and I were born and raised in Picayune. We are retired school teachers. I taught for 31 years and she taught for 29 years. We have been married for 36 years and are the proud parents of three children: Larry 11, Larenda and Lorenzo; and have one grandchild, Ethan Malik. We both graduated from George Washington Carver High School. I graduated in 1966 and Brenda graduated in 1969. I graduated from Jackson State University in May 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Master of Science Degree in May 1972, Specialist in Education Degree in August 1977 and further study at Jackson State University and the University of Southern Mississippi. I am a lifetime member of the Jackson State University Alumni Association and a lifetime member of the Mississippi Association of Educators. I am a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where I serve as Chairman of the Deacon Board and Church Treasurer. I am also a member of Phi Beta Sigma, fraternity.

I chose to live in Picayune because it is my home. I am dedicated to making home a better place for you and me. As councilman, some of my concerns are: helping to manage the financial affairs of the city in an honest and professional manner, treat all citizens and employees with respect, decrease the loud music, improve the community by covering ditches and adding sidewalks for safety, repair or tear down dilapidated buildings, more positive activities and programs for our youth and making our senior citizens feel safe in their homes.
