St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Peter Galvan has positively identified the remains of an Asian female that was found alongside Interstate 12 in Lacombe on March 11, 2009 as Drovana Sun. Fingerprints taken from the decedent at the time of her autopsy were entered into a nationwide database. This search revealed that the victim had been arrested in California and New Orleans. After cross-referencing several aliases that were listed on prior arrest records, the Coroner’s Office investigators contacted a potential family member of the decedent in New York. This family member positively identified the decedent through a tattoo on the decedent’s forearm as well as other physical characteristics that were documented during the post mortem examination. The Coroner’s investigation also revealed that the decedent was given the name Janice Chang at birth but had her name legally changed in 2000 to Drovana Sun.

The family is currently making arrangements to have the decedents remains returned home to California.
