Starkville police warn residents about a potential predator. They say a man in his 20s or early 30s grabbed two children during recess Thursday, and threatened a woman and her children early Friday.

He’s described as slim, dark-skinned and black, between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall, with braids nearly to his shoulders; and a dirty, dented black four-door 1990s-model Nissan or Toyota.

Police say he asked children playing hide-and-seek to come with him, grabbing a boy by the shoulder and a girl by the hair. The group of children ran and told their teacher.

Detective Eddie Young says early Friday, a man climbed a fence and asked a woman about her children. She said she did not have any — but he told her he knew she had three.

He left when a friend of the woman’s stopped and asked if she was all right.
