The Lady Hornets remained unbeaten at 11-0 with a 5-2 road win over Purvis.

Poplarville is one of three unbeaten teams in Division 8-4A, and the Lady Hornets meet one of those opponents Thursday travelling to D’Iberville.

Then, the next night, Poplarville travels to arch-rival Picayune for another league game.

On Monday, Megan Ladner had 10 strike outs and moved to 9-0 on the year with a complete game pitching performance.

She got support at the plate from Brandi Rester, who had three hits and three stolen bases, as well as Micah Davis who had two hits also.

Ladner also helped herself out with two hits, and Paige Miller had a two run single in the win.

“It’s always good to win on the road, but it was also good to start this week with a win,” Poplarville head coach Jonathan Ray said. “Thursday is going to be a big game, and then we have to come back and play Picayune Friday. We have to play well.”

• Also, Picayune returns to the softball diamond tonight as the Lady Tide hosts D’Iberville. Pearl River Central also hosts Bay High tonight, and both games are Division 8-4A contests.
