John Aubrey Penton

On Friday, March 13, 2009, John Aubrey Penton, 75, passed away at home with all his family around him.

He was born in Caesar, Miss., on January 10, 1934 to Arthur; and Enda Pearson Penton. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Dr. Arthur Penton, Jr., M.D. and Norman Jerry Penton; one sister, Daisy Dell Penton. He leaves behind one sister: Gaye Neil Varnado, and her husband, Douglas Varnado, of Central, La.

He also leaves behind a family that loved him and cherished him very much. They are as follows: his devote wife of 52 years, Atha Lea Hodge Penton, one son, John Andrew (Andy) Penton, two daughters, Kathi Davis and Cindy Penton. Also a much loved son-in-law, Bruce Penton.

His grandchildren were a constant source of love and enjoyment for him. They are as follows: Misty Penton Mitchell, John Andrew Penton, Jr., and wife Misty, Kristy Penton Nash and husband John, Joshua Short and Nicholas Short, Meghan Penton, Layne Penton and Gabriel Penton.

His great-grandchildren are Christian Jade Penton, Kyler Mitchell and Ethan Mitchell, Aubry Penton, Isabelle Penton, Lucas Penton, Morgan Short, Madison Short and Madeline Short.

He also leaves behind a cherished aunt Mrs. Truman Breland of Pearlington, Miss.; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Above all else, our Daddy loved the Lord. He was a deacon in the Baptist Church he loved so well, Rolling Hills in McNeill, Miss.

We will always remember him for his love for God, his love and total devotion to his family, his great wit and humor, and bravery and peace in the face of death.

Funeral Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009. The visitation will be from 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 until service time on Monday. Both will be held at Rolling Hills Baptist Church in McNeill, Miss. Burial will be in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
