Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Rolling Hills Baptist Church for Draxa Sones Pitts, 81, of Carriere who passed away on Monday, February 9, 2009 in Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell, La.

Burial will be in Sones Chapel Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

The Rev. Barry Lee, the Rev. Curtis Nobles, the Rev. Kyle Jones, and the Rev. Harold Pitts will officiate at the service.

A native of Vaden, Miss., she was a Homemaker and a retired Bus Driver for Pearl River Central School District and a member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, John Carmen Strain and Ada Scott Strain; her previous husband, H.K. Sones; three sisters and one brother.

Survivors include: her husband, the Rev. Harold E. Pitts of Anniston, Ala.; four daughters: Grenda Lambert and husband, John Lambert of Poplarville, Trish Rauxet of Waveland, Miss., Wanda Breland and husband, Don Breland of Carriere and Renee Fraley and husband, Arnold Fraley of Carriere; one son, Kyle Lee Sones and wife, Elaine Sones of Carriere; two step-sons: David Allen Pitts of Sevierville, Tenn., and Donald Lee Pitts and wife, Jerri Pitts of Topanga, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and three step-brothers, H.I. Harris and wife, Maudine Harris of Picayune, Mike Harris and wife, Ruby Nell Harris of McNeill, and Samuel O. Harris and wife, Quida Harris of Lucedale, Miss.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Rolling Hills Baptist Church and also on Thursday, February 12, 2009 until service time at Rolling Hills Baptist Church.
