The College Board hopes to have a new chancellor named at the University of Mississippi by the time Robert Khayat retires on June 30.
On Thursday, the board created a committee to find a successor to Khayat. Board President Amy Whitten of Oxford will lead the search committee.
Khayat, who has been chancellor the past 14 years, announced earlier this month he is retiring.
Whitten said board members felt it was important to get started so that the various university support groups could have their concerns answered.
