Arboretum plans day of forge demonstration

Saturday visitors to the Crosby Arboretum will have the opportunity to see copper and blacksmiths at work.

From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. the Arboretum Visitor Center will host four forges run by metalsmiths Ed Benton, Terrell Pickett and Chuck Robinson. They will set up their forges and demonstrate how to create items from metal, such as knives, said Senior Curator Patricia Drackett.

The show is free to Arboretum members and $4 for non-menbers.

The demonstrations include how to set up a forge for metal working andnformation on creating a forge at home will be available. There is no formal schedule for the day but there will be ongoing demonstrations and the forgers will be displaying examples of their work, Drackett said.
