All five local teams that took the court lost, as both Picayune and Pearl River Central were swept along with the Poplarville boys.

• In Bay St. Louis, the struggles for the Maroon Tide and the Lady Tide continued as homestanding Bay High swept a pair of Division 8-4A games from the visitors.

The Lady Tide dropped a 62-37 decision to the Lady Tigers, while the Maroon Tide fell 53-44 to the Tigers.

The loss for the Picayune girls was the second straight defeat, and the Lady Tide fell to 5-13 overall and below .500 in league play for the first time this season at 3-4.

A 14-2 run by Bay in the first half put the Lady Tigers in control and Picayune never recovered.

That spurt included 3-pointers from both Crystal Hawkins and Christian Lyons for Bay High.

Picayune’s Monique Brown tallied a game high 26 points, while Bay High placed a trio of players in double figures as Hawkins had 19, Lyons 17 and Rebecca Rezer 16.

Bay High moved to 13-7 overall and 5-2 in league play with the win.

The Maroon Tide saw the Tigers use a 9-0 run in the second period to take the lead for good and move to the win, which puts Bay High at 12-10 overall and 6-3 in league play and was the sixth straight win for the Tigers.

Picayune cut the deficit to 35-30 in the final period on a follow by Lloyd Hall, but would get no closer.
