A smash and grab robbery is under investigation by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.

The robbery took place Sunday at about 6:15 p.m. at Caston’s Quick Stop located at 702 Bouie Rd., said Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier.

That day two males stopped at the store. One of the suspects entered the business while the second stood watch outside. The suspect who entered the store grabbed the cash register and smashed it on the ground, scaring the cashier, who ran to the back. After smashing register, the suspect found the cashier and made comments to her that led her to believe he was in possession of a firearm, Saucier said.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken before both suspects got into a vehicle and fled in the direction of Hancock County on Ceasar Necaise Road, Saucier said.

Only three people were in the store at the time of the robbery, the cashier, her son and an owner of the store. No one was hurt during the incident.

Descriptions of the suspects and the get-away vehicle are still under investigation, Saucier said.
