Jackson Co. grand jury to hear Moss Point case
A Jackson County grand jury will decide whether to indict the only adult arrested in the October murder of a Hattiesburg man at a local gas station.
Thirty-nine-year-old Melody Jones of Moss Point was charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder. She remains free on bond.
Municipal Judge Maxine Conway on Tuesday sent the case to the grand jury.
Four juveniles have been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of Michael David Porter. They are being held without bond in the county jail.
The 44-year-old Porter was killed Oct. 23 at a convenience store in Moss Point, where he had stopped to ask directions to a high school football game. Police say the shooting took place during an attempted robbery.
