Jackson County supervisors say they will consider proposals to allow four-day, 10-hour work schedules for some county employees.

Several county department heads have requested the change.

Planning Director Michele Coats, who presented supervisors with the plan Monday, said having a four-day work schedule would enhance the quality of life for everyone, leaving employees refreshed and able to more easily work toward academic degrees.

Coats said county offices would still be open five days a week, with workers alternating their days off. Hours might expand from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Supervisors agreed Monday to let each department prepare a presentation for the Jan. 19 board meeting to explain how the schedule would work.
